While this is the time of year when it's OK to let your hair down a little lower, there are some important things you need to think about before the event.
1. Is there a dress code?
Sometimes there are themes and
dress codes for certain events, so you'll want to check the invite before you
end up showing up looking unprepared for the event.
2. Are certain clients and business acquaintances going to
be invited?
It's one thing to turn up a little in front of colleagues and your
boss, but you don't want people you do actual company business with to see how
you get down. Especially if you tend to get a little looser than normal around
this time of year.
3. Are plus ones allowed?
If you want to bring your partner
or homegirl to the party, please check with the organizers to confirm if it's
OK. You don't want to show up with your entire crew, then discover the party is
for staff and clients only.
4. Do you need to bring an extra pair of comfortable shoes?
Now, depending on where you work, this may a formal event with no turn up is
involved. However, if there is a strong chance it's going to be a turn up kind
of night, pack an extra pair of flats or foldable shoes so you can change when
your feet get tired and weary. You'll want to avoid kicking your pumps aside
and walking around barefooted. That is not a good look. Remember even though
it's a party, these are people you work with, so you might not want them to see
wildin’ all the way out.
Bonus
5. If the party doesn't have a theme, you need to decide what type of look you're going for in advance, so your time to shop around and pick up something that's fire, but also appropriate for the occasion. If you wait until last minute you run the risk of having to settle for something that leaves you looking a mess at the event.
